summarized- Online Reflection 01 : Islamic Architecture in Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) Era

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) first started his hijrah (migration) to Medina in 622. Previously, Medina was called Yathrib. Bani Qurnuqa, Bani Qurayza and Bani Nadir was the majority of Yathrib’s population. Before the arrival of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), Yathrib has always been in a chaos as the clans has always been rivals — mostly to claim the specific source of water.
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) agreed to migrate to Yathrib due of the attempted assassination by Bani Quraisy in Mecca. Yathrib was populated by Jewish, in which they thought that they might be receptive due to their belief in Prophet Ibrahim a.s. When Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) established his leadership, he had form a relationship between various religions and ethnics. Yathrib was then acted as his Prophet’s base for conquests and most people converted to Islam. Yathrib was then renames as Madinah al-Munawarah (the luminous city).
Medina’s urban layout was the model to many other countries, where by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)’s house and the mosque (as mentioned in previous post) was treated as a community centre. These are the places where they would receive education, social meetings, military base, Muslim’s house of prayer and so on.
The arrival of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) has changed Yathrib’s way of life. His graciousness and fairness was the reason why the local clans accepted him as a ruler, which continued to expand to mark Islam’s territory on the map.
